Black Hawthorn is an attractive, small, round-headed native tree that attracts wildlife to the garden. Crataegus douglasii is used for erosion control and shelterbelts. Dark green, glossy leaves emerge in the spring and cover the branches. White flowers with colourful stamens follow them. The show continues with large, blue-black fruit. The fruit is sweet and can be used in pies, tea preserves, or dried. Try this hardy, easy to grow addition to your garden or landscape.
