Launched in the commercial market in 2012, the Aurora Honeyberry is probably one of the best and tastiest of varieties! This compact bush with upright habit can reach 6 ft tall and 4 ft wide. 'Aurora' is a mid-season variety that usually bears fruit in late June. Its bush habit, fruits that do not drop off, and even-ripening are characteristics that indicate this variety is suited for mechanical harvesting.

Aurora's sweet, elongated and hazelnut-flavoured berries are known for offering the best flavour among the haskap. The fruit weighs in average 1.9 grams (max 2.1 grams). The maximum sugar content equals 16,5°Bx (Brix) on its best years.

One bush produces on average 5 kg of berries (max 6 kg). Per hectare, Aurora haskap yield is 16.5 t/ha on average (max 19.8 t/ha). In order to receive an abundant crop it is necessary to plant several other cultivars to improve cross-pollination. 'Indigo Gem' (mid-season) and 'Borealis' (mid-season) are especially recommended but 'Boreal Beast' (mid to late-season) or 'Berry Blue' (early-season) are also good pollinators. This variety is a powerful pollinator itself. Its early blooming yellow flowers will increase the yield of other varieties such as Borealis, and Indigo Gem. The easy to pick fruits are great fresh, or in jams and jellies. 'Aurora' is a mid-season variety, and a very productive pollinator that simultaneously produces the best sweet tasting berries.
