Anemone 'Robustissima'

Robustissima Grape-leaf Anemone (Anemone 'Robustissima') is a classic Japanese Anemone. An exceptionally vigorous and hardy variety, its large, soft pink blooms will provide late season colour to your garden beds.

Robustissima Anemone is commonly named Grape Leaf Anemone, and also referred to as Grape-leaved Anemone due to the shape of its leaves. It is a tall anemone variety with a height of just over one metre . The 5 cm flowers are composed of soft pink petals around a bright yellow centre, which sit atop reddish-brown wiry stems, seemingly floating above the green foliage. These long-lasting flowers with lasting colour bloom mid-late summer into fall.

The flowers of this hardy Japanese Anemone provide an excellent nectar and pollen source for bees, butterflies and many other pollinating insects, making Robustissima Anemone an outstanding choice for a pollinator garden. This variety is also a great choice for a cut flower garden - the pretty blooms atop the wiry stems look beautiful in arrangements.

Robustissima Windflower is used for foundations and mass plantings. Of all the Japanese Anemone, this variety is one of the hardiest, most adaptable and most tolerant of sun and drier conditions. Once established, it may naturalize by spreading rhizomes to form large colonies. To avoid this spreading, deadhead the spent blooms and cut back to 15 cm each fall. Resistant to most insects, diseases, rabbits and deer, Anemone x tomentosa 'Robustissima' is an easy to grow, classic perennial.
